The AI Saga Boy of Contemporary Film and Media

Jean Benoit, known in creative circles as Normal Normal, is not your typical Caribbean artist. He doesn’t just make films—he builds worlds. He doesn’t just edit video—he reconstructs narratives. And in a time when most are still catching up with AI, Benoit is already bending it into new forms of Caribbean expression.

For the past fifteen years, this Trinidad and Tobago-born digital artist, filmmaker, and multimedia alchemist has been quietly crafting a revolution—one that fuses storytelling, technology, and culture into electrifying new experiences that feel both deeply rooted and wildly futuristic.
Benoit's creative journey began in 2008 after earning a diploma in digital video editing from the Toronto Film School. His early years saw him working behind the scenes at JCD & Associates and later at the Arthur Lok Jack School of Business, where he became known for his versatility as a video editor, filmmaker, and audiovisual specialist. But in 2021, he took the leap into full-time freelance work—and never looked back. “There was something liberating about leaving the structure behind,” Benoit says. “It opened up space to really chase the ideas that wouldn’t let me sleep at night.”

That space became the launching pad for a series of bold, boundary-blurring projects.
